Tribhuvan University Institute of Science and Technology (TU IOST) launched the Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) program in 2076 BS. This 4-year, 8-semester program is currently offered through 15 constituent campuses of Tribhuvan University. In addition to foundational and core information technology courses, the BIT program offers several elective courses.
The curriculum is designed to equip graduates with opportunities in software development, information security, database administration, network and system administration, and various sectors that develop or use Information Technology. To enroll in TU-affiliated colleges, you have to appear in the centralized entrance exam called BIT-entrance exam.
According to data from Edusanjal, 39 colleges in Nepal offer the BIT program through affiliations with either national or foreign universities. Tribhuan University has the highest number of affiliated colleges, with 15 public campuses offering the BIT program as of 2024.
