Secondary Education Examination (SEE) (previously known as SLC) is arguably the most popular examination of Nepal. SEE examination is also homologous with the title "iron gate" probably because it opens the door for higher education here in Nepal.
Previously the result of SEE used to be published in Percentage but since 2016 A.D. Examination Controller Division has introduced the letter grading system for the SEE Result. The SEE Result comes out in the form of GPA (Grade Point Average), with the highest GPA being 4.00. The GPA is based on the percentage of each of the subjects (Average of Theory and Practical Marks). The Grading system has been introduced in order to motivate students as they don't get a "failed" grade like in the percentage system of scores.
The grades earned in each course by the student are recorded on the student’s permanent record. The analysis of student's achievement will be made with the connection to the attainment of the specific objectives of the course. Grades below C+ is not considered satisfactory for students who want to enroll in reputed plus two colleges. Hence, if the student scores low grade, then he/he can participate in re-exam to improve the grade.
As soon as you are done with SEE, you have to get the clarification of further studies regarding the selection of course and the college. The course you pursue after SEE will decide what you will be in the future. Example if you aspire to be a doctor then you should enroll in Ten Plus Two Science or Equivalent with Biology as one of the major subjects. If you want to be a Manager or Chartered Accountant (CA) then you can opt for either Ten Plus Two in Management or Ten Plus Two Science or their equivalents.
After SEE the students can enroll in different streams namely Science, Management, Humanities, and Education. The programs are as follows:
