Padmodaya Secondary School is centrally located near the Singha Durbar, on the way to Bhrikuti Mandap, Ramshah Path, Putalisadak, Kathmandu, Nepal. It is affiliated to National Examination Board (NEB) for Ten Plus two programs in Management and Science.Padmodaya Secondary School was established in 1946 before dawn of democracy in Nepal. The word “Padmodaya” refers to the name of then Rana Prime Minister of Nepal “Padma Shamsher Jung Bahadur Rana.
Padmodaya Secondary School was patronized by Kamala, the wife of Padma Shamsher and the school building is being publicly called Kamala Bhavana since that time. For the commemoration to Kamala, inter-school Kamala essay writing competition is continuously being organized from the establishment of the school.
The main school building was constructed in 1953 which looks like buildings constructed by Ranas such as Singha Durbar, Babar Mahal and Keshar Mahal. Initially, it was established to educate only boys but interestingly, the school started to enroll girls since 1988.
