Admissions Open for Bachelor Programs at KU School of Engineering

Kathmandu University, School of Engineering announces admissions open in Undergraduate Programs for Academic Year 2025. 

At Kathmandu University, School of Engineering candidates are required to appear in the Kathmandu University Common Admission Test (KUCAT), in either PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Maths) or PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), according to their choice of academic program. The Entrance Exam will be conducted in the mode of Computer-Based Test (CBT).

Program and Subject areaWho can Apply?
  • Must have passed with subjects PCM (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) in both XI and XII (or equivalent)
  • Students from the Biology stream must have taken and passed Additional Mathematics for PCM test eligibility.
  • Must have passed with subjects PCM (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) or PMCs (Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science) in both XI and XII (or equivalent)
  • Students from the Biology stream must have taken and passed Additional Mathematics for PCM test eligibility.
  • +2 Science or equivalent or three years in Diploma in Engineering, Science, Technology and Health Sciences (Nursing, Health Assistant, Pharmacy, Lab Technology)
  • Candidates applying for BE in Geomatics Engineering scholarships need to fill up a separate form for scholarship after the publication of the "CBT rank-based list"
  • Candidates applying for the Bachelor of Architecture must pass the aptitude test after publication of the CBT rank-based list.
  • Bachelor of Information Technology program will run in Aspire College, Biratnagar.

Eligibility Criteria for Admission

Academic Qualifications

Applicants must have completed 10+2 or equivalent with one of the following:

  • Minimum GPA: 2.0
  • Minimum Percentage: 50% aggregate marks or equivalent

Accepted Qualifications and Combinations

  1. A-Level
    • Minimum of 3 A-level subjects and 1 AS-level in any of the following subject combinations:
      • PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology)
      • PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics)
      • PMCs (Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science)
    • If the Percentage Uniform Mark (PUM) is provided, a 50% aggregate is required.
    • If PUM is not provided, at least Grade D in the required subject combination.
  2. IB Diploma
    • Minimum of 6 subjects with one of the following subject combinations:
      • PCB, PCM, or PMCs
    • Must have a final IB grade of 3 in each subject separately.
  3. CTEVT Diploma Holders
    • Eligible for related disciplines, subject to meeting equivalent percentage criteria.
  4. Foreign Boards
    • Must submit an equivalence certificate from Kathmandu University authority at the time of admission.

Entrance Examination

  • All applicants (except for Bachelor's in Health Informatics) must appear in the Kathmandu University Common Admission Test (KUCAT) Computer-Based Test (CBT 2025).

Provisional Admission

  • Candidates awaiting Grade 12 results may apply for provisional admission, subject to meeting the above eligibility requirements once results are published.
