The Quality Assurance and Accreditation (QAA) program launched by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in Nepal is a significant parameter in the reform and development of higher education in the country. QAA has been recognized as a crucial mission for improving the quality of education in Nepal. Accreditation, which is an integral part of QAA, involves the evaluation of higher education institutions (HEIs) or specific educational programs to formally recognize their compliance with predetermined minimal criteria or standards.
On April 27, 2026, three higher education institutions, including Khwopa College of Engineering in Bhaktapur, Haraiya Multiple Campus, and Parroha Multiple Campus in Rupandehi, were awarded Certificates of Institutional Accreditation. With this, the number of higher education institutions (HEIs) receiving QAA certification in Nepal has reached 114 as of April 2026. The list of QAA-certified colleges is given below.
