Bachelor of Science in Agriculture B.Sc Ag is a course which is taught at Agriculture and Forestry University, Rampur, Chitwan. The course is highly interdisciplinary, requiring students to have a good grasp of both natural sciences and social sciences, and drawing on areas such as biology, environmental sciences, chemistry, economics, and business and management. The course focuses on teaching students how to prosper agricultural sciences using modern scientific equipment and techniques. Covering aspects of water resource management, land surveying, soil sciences, and poultry management among various others, the main objective of the course is to teach students how to improve agricultural productivity.
The students will be able to create a strong scientific foundation in agriculture by studying biology, natural environments, agricultural production, and agricultural science. The graduates will have a wide range of technical skills and knowledge, as well as an understanding of the scientific, moral, and commercial principles behind the agricultural industry.
The main objectives of the course are as follows:
- To make students acquainted with modern equipment, tools, and techniques associated with agriculture
- To develop students competencies in inventive and pragmatic thinking
- To prepare students with desirable attitudes, knowledge, and skills for facing the complex and challenging problems in agriculture with the economic development of the country
- To motivate students for involving them in lifelong agricultural practices and research
Examination System
Internal assessment
The Agriculture and Forestry University follows semester system of examination for evaluation. A total of 20% of full marks in theory in each subject is evaluated internally by the subject teacher through an internal assessment. The student must secure 40% marks in the internal assessment to qualify for final examination. The course teacher gives one chance for makeup test to those who fail in the first internal assessment or missed for valid reasons.
Final theory and practical examination
The Examination Board of Agriculture and Forestry University conducts a separate final theory examination of 80% and 20% of practical for each level externally through an external system of examination. A students must secure at least 40% marks in theory and practical separately to pass the final theory and practical examination in each subject. The students who fail in the final theory or practical examination are allowed to take a back-paper examination conducted by the examination board of AFU in each semester. Maximum allowable back paper examination will be as per the AFU regulation.
Attendance Requirement
A student must attend at least 70% of classes in theory and practical in each subject to be eligible for final examination. All teachers will submit their attendance register to the faculty dean after the end of classes of each subject.
Other Requirements and Rules
The aspects of instruction, evaluation and other areas of academics not mentioned in here are as per rules and regulations of the Agriculture and Forestry University. The university may change any rules and regulations any times as required for effective functioning.
Grading System
A student will be graded at 1- 4 scale; 1 being the lowest and 4 being the highest grade. A, B, C and D grade will be awarded according to marks obtained in the courses.

Salient Features
SCHOLARSHIPS
Various National and International organizations provide scholarships for education in forestry and allied sectors. They are ITTO, WWF, AFU, JICA, DFID, USAID, UGC, Finida, Danida, Norad, SDC, EOI etc. Some social organizations and memorial trusts also offer scholarships to students.

Eligibility
Minimum Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicant must have Passed SLC or equivalent examination.
- Applicant must be I.Sc./10+2 (Science/Agriculture) passed with at least 50% of aggregate marks and has studied English, Chemistry and Biology of at least 100 full marks each, together with Mathematics and Physics of at least 50 full marks each.
- Must secure at least 50% entrance exam score.

Admission Fee
(a) Admission Fee Rs.6,000/-
(b) The admission fee of Rs.2,70,000/- (two lakh seventy thousand only) has been fixed for the students enrolling in staff quota, UDF/CDF, and local quota in the full fee.
The first installment of Rs.1,35,000/-(one lakh thirty-five thousand only) must be paid at the time of admission in the first semester, and the second installment of Rs.1,35,000/-(one lakh thirty-five thousand only) for the admission of the third semester. Must submit on time

Advertisement for Admission
The notice regarding students' admission is published in a national newspaper and will be put on the website of Agriculture and Forestry University (www.afu.edu.np). The exact date of admission process may vary from year to year but it generally starts in August- September and classes begins from mid of November.

Admission is done on the basis of entrance examination (80%), aggregate score of Higher secondary level or plus two (10%), aggregate score of SLC/SEE (10%). The applicants will be selected on merit basis.
Entrance Examination:
The entrance examination will be of 80 full marks, 80 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), and 1 hr. time period. There is no system of "Negative marking". The examinee must use "Black Gel Pen" to encircle ‘O’ the correct answer choice. The examinee must secure a minimum of 50% marks in the entrance examination to be eligible for the "Merit List".
Admission Criteria:
Candidates enlisted in the MERIT LIST are eligible for admission. Candidate scoring minimum of 50% in the entrance exam will be at merit list formulated with 80% of entrance examination score added with 10% of SLC and 10% of I.Sc./10+2 aggregate marks, respectively. Candidates can get admission as per the ADMISSION LIST during the specified admission schedule.
Documents Required During Admission:
During admission time, along with the admission fee, all the documents (including citizenship, academic certificates, and other verification letters/certificates) must be ORIGINAL/HARD COPY and verified as TRUE with documents that were submitted through an online application. The candidate who failed to submit the below-mentioned documents at the time of admission will be disqualified from the admission procedure.

- c. Original Mark Sheet and Character Certificate of SLC or equivalent
- d. Original Transcript, Character, Provisional, and Migration Certificate of 10+2 or equivalent
- e. Equivalence Certificate (if other than Nepal Board)
- f. Original Quota Verification Letter/Certificate (as specified)
- g. Original Admit Card of the relevant entrance exam.
- Applicants with an Higher Education Degree from any other University than Agriculture and Forestry University are required to register with Agriculture and Forestry University. The applicants are required to Submit the original copy of Migration Certificate during registration.
