Sainik Awasia Mahavidyalaya Chainpur, is an English medium co-educational institution under the supervision of the Welfare Planning Directorate of Nepalese Army. The school follows a semi-residential model, with male students residing in the school's hostel and female students attending classes as day boarders. On 17th July 2012 (02nd Shrawan, 2069), General Chhatra Man Singh Gurung, the then Chief of the Army Staff, Nepal Army, inaugurated SAM Chitwan in the presence of senior Army officials, teachers, students, parents, and other dignitaries.
SAM Chitwan, the representative school of the Mid Division of Nepalese Army, is the sixth Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya (SAM) in the country. SAMs are established with the noble theme of "imparting education is the biggest service" throughout Nepal. SAM Chitwan was established with the same motto and spirit to provide quality education to all children of Army personnel, both on service and ex-servicemen, as well as civilians. Our commitment is to produce multi-talented, disciplined, and patriotic citizens who can lead in various avenues of national society and international horizons.
Located in the heart of Chitwan, one of the most facilitated districts in the country, SAM Chitwan has its own premises equipped with all necessary infrastructures for a world-class school. In addition to regular classrooms and other resources, the school boasts spacious playgrounds, swimming pools, assembly areas, hostels, dining halls, conference halls, libraries, laboratories, audio-visual resource rooms, music rooms, infirmaries, and a secured campus. The primary objective of all these facilities is to provide opportunities for students to develop their mental and physical strengths to excel in their fields of specialty.
The Mahavidyalaya runs classes from grade 6 to 12 with three sections in each class except in grade 11 and 12. The plus two wing has Science and Management streams .Each class is divided into three sections, which are named after the wildlife respecting the wildlife of Chitwan National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to implant the feeling of consciousness towards conservation among the students. Being the school running under Nepalese Army Welfare Fund, the school has reserved the seats for the children of Army personnel. 60% of the total seats are reserved for the Army personnel while remaining 40% seats are open for the civil students. The enrolment of new students takes place in grade 6 and 11 once a year on the basis of entrance examination followed by medical examination and interview. New admission opens every March-April (Falgun-Chaitra) and the notice is also published in the national newspapers.
Science Lab
SAM Chitwan has well-equipped laboratories for practical work and experimentation. The Physics, Chemistry, and Biology labs offer ample opportunities for young students to put into practice the scientific concepts they learn in theoretical classes. Each lab is managed by a lab assistant who supports students with their regular practical learning activities. The labs have almost all the required materials, and they have been wonderful places for children from grade VI to XII to reinforce their learning.
SQC
SAM Chitwan is committed to the holistic development of its students through their active participation in curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular activities. The Students' Quality Circle (SQC) is a popular regular activity at the Mahavidyalaya that has been instrumental in developing good and smart character traits in students. In addition, students have been presenting case studies and participating in various events at hub conventions, national conventions, and international conventions. The Mahavidyalaya introduced SQC formally in the academic session 2071.
Science and Herbal Garden
The Mahavidyalaya has established a Science and Herbal Garden in the backyard of the administrative building, aimed at providing students with a hands-on learning experience of the plant kingdom. The garden is home to a variety of medicinal herbs, vegetables, and flowers, giving students exposure to real-world situations and enhancing their interest in nature. Apart from adding beauty to the Mahavidyalaya environment, the garden's various flora have been closely observed by students, significantly increasing their love for plants, their knowledge of the medicinal importance of herbs, and their sense of nature conservation.
Computer Laboratory
To provide students with the latest and highest-quality computing tools and technologies, the Mahavidyalaya offers a spacious and well-equipped computer lab, staffed by highly competent tutors who provide instruction and supervision on both software and hardware systems according to the prescribed curriculum. This lab is equipped with branded computers featuring smart boards and projectors, as well as CCTV surveillance, sound broadcasting systems, and other necessary accessories, all of which enhance the learning experiences of the students.
ECA & CCA
SAMC provides a favorable environment to engage in a wide range of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, including art, dance, music, sports, debates, quizzes, and visual arts. The Mahavidyalaya offers ample opportunities for students to explore their latent talents, develop new skills, and improve themselves physically and mentally. The Mahavidyalaya has state-of-the-art infrastructure to conduct different indoor and outdoor CCA and ECA activities. The dedicated ECA Department conducts scheduled activities , with veteran ECA teachers instructing, educating, and guiding students to develop their skills, resilience, and competitive spirit. To create a competitive environment, the students are divided into four colors: Blue, Green, Red, and Yellow, and numerous inter-color ECAs and CCAs are conducted at different levels. To provide a diverse selection of activities, 16 different clubs have been established under the leadership of experienced teachers. Additionally, students are encouraged to focus on three special criteria: exploring the world of visual arts to spark creativity, using dance and music as a healing ointment for emotions, and expressing themselves.
Library
A central library has been established that is well-equipped with a wide collection of classic creations, fiction and non-fiction books, encyclopedias, subject-wise reference books, journals, newspapers, students' project reports, and much more. The library offers opportunities for individual study as well as group discussions facilitated by trained librarians and instructors. Additionally, the students have access to up-to-date, global, and local information, making them an integral part of the academic community. The library's rich collection, managed by KOHA software and supplemented with an E-Library, caters to the academic and intellectual needs of both the teachers and students of the Mahavidyalaya.
Healthcare and Medical Facilities
The Mahavidyalaya offers a well-equipped Medical Isolation Department that caters to the medical needs of students who require medical attention. This facility is staffed by trained and experienced army medical personnel who provide round-the-clock treatment for students with minor ailments and injuries. The department offers first aid services, treatment for simple illnesses, and medical isolation for students who require it. If the health issues are severe, the department refers students to more advanced hospitals and clinics. In addition to these services, the department also provides other amenities, including nebulization, hot water dispensary, height and weight machines for measuring BMI, essential medicine, and health record keeping. The department is also equipped with stretchers for transporting sick or injured students from different areas of the Mahavidyalaya. Furthermore, the department often organizes special health camps such as eye camps, dental camps, and general checkup camps, with the help of Nepal Army Medical Team and civil doctors, to provide additional services to students.
Transportation Facility
The Mahavidyalaya offers transportation services to day scholar girls, prioritizing their safety, comfort, and convenience. Equipped with comfortable seating, first aid kits, fire extinguishers, and emergency doors, the Mahavidyalaya buses operate on a predetermined schedule to pick up and drop off students at specified locations. The drivers and attendants are well-trained to handle each child with utmost care and to follow all safety protocols. The staff has been assigned work responsibilities to maintain discipline on the bus, and speed governors have been installed on each vehicle for added safety measures.
Admission Seats:
Out of the total, 60% of the seats are reserved for the Army personnel while the remaining 40% seats are open for the civil students.
Entrance Exam:
The admission of new students is only for grade 6 on the basis of entrance examination followed by medical examination and interview of prospect student and guardian.
