ABOUT

Jiri Technical School was established in 1982 AD as a joint project between the then His Majesty's Government of Nepal and the Government of Switzerland. During the starting period, the intake was seven grade passed and training period was 3 years in JTS with an additional 10 months On-The-job-Training (OJT).

From 1990 on wards admission criteria were changed for Agriculture and Construction trade and intake was for SLC failed students. Similar criteria were also set for Health Trade since 1993 onwards. Previously, the catchments area of JTS was confined to only six mid hill districts of the country, which has been made open for all the districts of Nepal since 1993.

Occupied by 14.5 hectors of land, Jiri Technical School has 50 buildings. Since the establishment of CTEVT, this school has been conducted under it.

Now it is a constituent school of CTEVT. With the goal of producing basic and junior level technical manpower in the field of agriculture, health and construction, this school has been conducting Sub Overseer (Civil Engineer), JTA (Plant + Animal Science), I.Sc. Ag. (Plant Science), I.Sc. Ag. (Animal Science) and ANM. It never compromises on the matter of producing skilled workforce by imparting vocational and technical education to the Nepalese citizen through quality and demand driven training. About two thousand six hundred and fifty students have been produced by this school till date.

With the aim of providing certain professional and vocational skills to the people who are either unable to gain higher education or are interested to gain certain vocational/ professional skills for their better professional career, Jiri Technical School has been running various vocational training programs of short duration of 39 hours. The courses are offered in the field of agriculture and construction. The school is also providing training to the sub- overseers of the government in the field of bridge construction with the full support of HELVETAS.

Apart from the mentioned quotas, the school has been providing the class of JTA and Sub Overseer to those students who have been affected during the Maoists Civil War. Apart from these, the school is also providing JTA and Sub Overseer classes to the Kamlaris Tharu girls of five districts like Kanchanpur, Kailali, Banke, Bardiya and Dang with the full support of Nepal Youth Foundation.
