Salient Features

Music

A music class is attended by students where they receive instruction on playing various instruments and singing. A devoted teacher teaches the classes, helping the students to discover and express their creativity.

Meditation

By increasing focus and concentration, meditation can help students to concentrate better on their studies. The school has integrated meditation into the curriculum to encourage students to develop greater self-awareness and improve their ability to concentrate on their academic work.

Dance

Students are taught various forms of dance, including traditional and modern styles, by a committed teacher during dance classes.

Sports

At Occidental Public School, sports are considered a crucial component of the curriculum. Canteen

Occidental has a roomy dining hall where we offer sanitary meals to all of our students. They discourage the consumption of junk food and instead provide their boarders with nutritious and well-balanced meals. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options are available to students. They prioritize the provision of wholesome food to promote good health.

Scouts

To promote personality development among students, the school enrolls interested students from classes VI - X in the scout program. Every Saturday, scout classes are conducted, which include a range of activities aimed at building self-confidence, leadership, and discipline. The school also organizes outdoor activities such as hiking, trekking, camping, and adventure sports to further support the development of these skills.

Boarders

The school provides well-appointed dormitories for both boys and girls, as well as a fully-equipped laboratory, kitchen-dining hall, and library that cater to all study and leisure needs. Children can participate in a range of activities such as regular prayers, entertainment programs, camps, travel teachings, and community trips, and are encouraged to engage in social service programs, which are referred to as ingenio-et-labore (innate ability and labor). The school frequently hosts eminent personalities from various fields, whose presence expands the boarders' vision greatly.

Semi-Boarders

The school offers the option of semi-boarding or day-boarding for students of all levels, both before and after school. Special classes are available for day-boarders at a nominal fee. This facility is designed to cater to the busy schedules of parents in Kathmandu and the need for specialized guidance for students in higher levels.

Medical

An experienced nurse oversees the well-being of the children, and a school doctor conducts regular checkups. In the event of an emergency, the child is taken to a reputable hospital. Parents or guardians are promptly informed about any emergency treatment required or administered. A small standard fee is charged to all students, which covers minor health needs. Charges for doctor's fees, medicines, tonics, hospital expenses, etc. are billed separately.

Computer Lab

The school is equipped with computer laboratories that are well-stocked with necessary computers. Students have ample opportunities to practice and become proficient in computer usage. They are taught to view computers as a resource rather than just a tool.

Science Lab

The school has well-stocked science laboratories that are equipped with necessary materials. Students have ample opportunities to practice and conduct experiments in the lab. The spacious labs facilitate various student activities and interactions through experimentation.

School Library

The school's library boasts an extensive collection of books, including textbooks, reference books, encyclopedias, dictionaries, and more, on a wide range of subjects. The library also has subject-related CDs available. A trained librarian takes care of the library. Students are assigned library tasks to cultivate reading habits and improve their creative writing skills by utilizing the library's resources.

Transportation

Transportation services are provided by the school to day scholars. In the morning, students must arrive at the designated bus stop with an escort at the scheduled time, and in the evening, they must be accompanied by an escort from the bus stop.


Admission Guidelines

Application forms can be filled online once admissions are officially open. Candidates are required to attend the entrance examination. Selected students will be called back for interview along with their parents.
