Kathmandu University High School belongs to and is directed by Kathmandu University. It is a wholly non-profit making institution. KUHS was founded in 1998 in a rented building in Dhulikhel, with a first intake of 60 primary students. Each year it added one intake until class 10. In 2000, it moved to its own beautiful new campus in Chaukot, provided by Kathmandu University. In 2009 the school opened the A level programme from the University of Cambridge International Examinations. KUHS is also offering +2 in Science.
KUHS has different teaching methodologies. It recognizes three main types of learning: receiving information from teachers or textbooks: learning from observation and experience: and learning to think for oneself. All three methods are important and support each other. Our teachers try to combine them to make lessons stimulating and interactive.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award
Our school has launched this award in 2010 A.D. and more than 70 students are already awarded the Bronze Award.
The award is a leading structured (non-formal education) youth development program, empowering all young students between age 14-25 to explore their full potential regardless of their location and circumstances. Each young person who takes part in the Award learns a skill, improves their physical well being, volunteers in their community and goes on an adventure. All participants are supported by a network of adult Award Leaders, Assessors, supervisors, and mentors.
This Award helps the students to get scholarship in the international universities too. Because 140 countries and more than 8 million youths are involved in this Award throughout the world.
