Safety and Security

Ensuring the safety of students remains a top priority at the school, supported by a dedicated team of security personnel available round the clock. Various security measures, including surveillance tools, are implemented to meticulously monitor the premises, with all visitors required to present identification at the front entrance. Additionally, the school maintains well-developed emergency plans to address any potential crises, both on campus and during school trips, outlined comprehensively in an emergency procedures handbook. Parents are informed of their role in emergency situations. The school kindly requests cooperation with the wearing of ID cards, emphasizing it as a crucial aspect of a caring and responsible institution where the safety and well-being of students are paramount.

With a paramount focus on the wellbeing of every child, the school boasts a spacious cafeteria offering wholesome, nutritious, and well-balanced meals, recognizing that a healthy body fosters a productive mind. Equipped with a world-class on-site kitchen, the school provides daily hot meals meticulously crafted to meet the nutritional needs of students, teaching staff, and auxiliary personnel, following a specialized meal plan devised by an expert nutritionist. Nepalese and international vegetarian cuisine are prepared with utmost care in an allergen-free environment. To ensure access to safe drinking water, the school employs R.O treatment systems and UV filters throughout the premises, actively discouraging the use of plastic bottles and instead providing drinking water fountains across the campus.

Media Center and Library

The School Media Center, also known as the School Library, stands as a cornerstone supporting every curriculum and teaching endeavor within Alok. Serving as the nucleus of learning and teaching resources for the entire school community, both primary and secondary school libraries play pivotal roles in enhancing learners' skills and facilitating the professional development of educators, fostering lifelong learning. With a focus on promoting transdisciplinary skills, international-mindedness, and concept-based learning, the library collection aims to empower students. A vast E-library further promotes e-learning, encouraging students to become active, compassionate, and lifelong learners as they explore resources including picture books, junior fiction, non-fiction books, CDs, DVDs, newspapers, and teaching resources. Each class enjoys a weekly library session, borrowing books from the home reading section to foster information literacy and reading development. The diverse collection encompasses titles across various genres, nurturing a lifelong love for reading while catering to the research needs of inquisitive minds through non-fiction selections.

The School Infirmary is overseen by a qualified nurse who conducts regular medical check-ups of students and maintains detailed records. If the nurse or doctor deems it necessary for a child to receive special medical attention, parents are promptly notified. In the best interest of the child and their classmates, parents are urged not to send sick children to school for classes or exams, and medical certificates are required to ensure the child's academic performance remains unaffected. Students afflicted with contagious illnesses such as conjunctivitis, dermatitis, or scabies are advised to remain at home until fully recovered. Additionally, parents are kindly reminded not to send medications with their children without prior permission from the Principal.

Transportation stands as a commonly utilized option for the majority of students, with regular bus services available featuring stops at key locations throughout the city. Students are required to use the nearest existing stops, as the established routes remain unchanged. The school offers seven routes across the city, and upon transportation request, each child is allocated to the most suitable route. Ensuring safety and tracking, all buses are equipped with GPS, providing the school with real-time information about the buses' locations at all times.

Student Counseling

Feeling overwhelmed with classwork? Anxious about their parents' separation? Troubled about fitting in or concerned for a friend? At Alok Vidyashram, students are not alone in navigating through tough times. The school's counselors are there to lend support and guidance when needed. From assisting with academic and career planning, including scheduling, study skills coaching, grade improvement strategies, and college preparation, to providing a listening ear, offering support, and helping students make informed decisions about personal issues like social anxiety or grief, the counselors are dedicated to fostering students' well-being. Even if students aren't facing a problem, the counselors welcome discussions on initiatives to enhance the school community, organize fundraisers, or initiate student-led projects. They serve as mentors, offering guidance throughout high school and career exploration. Students are encouraged to stop by and say hello—whether sharing successes or seeking advice, the counselors are there to help.
