Seats Allotted to Medical Colleges in Undergraduate Levels

Medical Education commission (MEC) has allotted undergraduate level seats for different subjects under medical studies to medical colleges across the country for the academic year 2077/78. Seats were allotted based on the decision of a working committee that convened on Jestha 19 and 31.

Out of 22 colleges that offer MBBS and BDS, 1835 seats have been allotted to MBBS and 565 seats to BDS. Similarly of 76 colleges that offer other health science-related undergraduate courses, a total of 1100 seats have been allotted to BSc. Nursing course, 425 seats to BSc. MLT course, 71 seats to BSc. MIT course, 20 seats to BSc. Medical Microbiology, 20 seats to Medical Biochemistry, 150 seats to BPT, 902 seats to B.Pharma, 1420 seats to BPH, 67 seats to B.Optometry, 70 seats to BNS (MID), 1195 seats to BNS, 6 seats to BASLP, 80 seats to BAMS, and a total of 5 seats to Bachelors in Perfusion Technology.

As per the Medical Education Act, each subject can be allotted a total of 100 seats in an academic year. All colleges offering MBBS program except two were allotted this maximum limit for the program. Patan Academy of Health Sciences and Janaki Medical College were allotted 65 and 50 seats respectively. Similarly, Karnali Academy of Health Sciences operation MBBS classes for the first time from this academic session has been allotted 20 seats.

Although perceived as not so sound in terms of infrastructure, Gandaki Medical College, Lumbini Medical College (Palpa), and Kist Medical College also were allotted 100 seats.
