The BPH program aims to prepare professional public health specialists with the highest technical and managerial competence in district level health programs, including problem identification, planning, implementing, training, health education, and research.

Such specialists can serve in various types of positions at national, regional, zonal, district or local levels. They will be needed in various kinds of governmental or non-governmental health agencies, hospital, schools and institutions, other possible area of absorption may involve special responsibilities, e.g. working directly with local communities and individuals, working primarily with school teachers, administering health education services, and preparing health workers in public health fields.In general, the graduates of Bachelor of Public health program should be able to carry out the responsibilities designed for the district public health officer.

Eligibility

  • Must have studied Physics, Chemistry and Biology from a recognized educational institution and passed with a minimum of 50 percent or 2.4 CGPA in the proficiency certificate level or Grade 12 Science group.

or

  • Stude from A-level or other similar programs with different grading systems must have studied physics, chemistry and biology with a minimum of 50 percent or 2.4 CGPA.

or

  • Must have obtained at least 50% overall marks in Health Science Proficiency Certificate Level or Diploma (General Medicine or Medical Lab Technology or Ophthalmic Science or Dental Science or Pharmacy or Radiography or Ayurveda or Physiotherapy) and registered with the concerned council.

Admission Criteria

Provisions for Admission Process

  1. In order to pass the integrated admission process, a minimum of 50 percentile should be obtained.

  2. One mark will be awarded for each correct answer and marks will be deducted at the rate of 0.25 for each wrong answer.

Candidates who have been successfully selected in the admission process will have to submit the following original and 1/1 photocopy of the following documents to the concerned educational institution at the time of admission.

  1. Certificate of qualification, Transcript and Character Certificate of 10+2 and SLC/SEE or Equivalent.

  2. Copy of Citizenship / Passport.

  3. Admit card of the Entrance Examination.

  4. Documents submitted for reservation.

  5. Certificate of Equivalence for the students with certificates from foreign institutions.

*Foreign candidates wishing to study in the vacated seat for foreign students must fill in the online application form mentioning the academic program of their choice within the time limit mentioned in this notice.

Provisions for Scholarships

As per Rule 20 of the National Medical Education Rules, 2077, out of the total scholarship seats to be awarded to the Government of Nepal at the undergraduate level, 55 percent of the seats will be distributed through open competition and 45 percent of the seats will be distributed on the basis of the following:

Objectives of the Bachelor of Public Health Program of Purbanchal University

The objective of the Bachelor of Public Health (BPH) program is to produce competent graduates with advanced knowledge and practical skills necessary to deliver high-quality health services needed for the country. Specifically, the program entails the following objectives:

  • Provide advanced knowledge and practical skills in Public Health for graduates of certificate level programs in general medicine, nursing (Staff Nurse), and health sciences and for certificate graduates in science with biology
  • Develop required skills in designing, analyzing, and evaluating applied public health science research and management
  • Equip public health specialists with communication and group organization skills for promoting community participation in health and development activities ultimately leading to the individual and community self-reliance in health services and improvement in the health status of people
  • Enable public health professionals to deal with existing realities in district public health management issues, concern, and problems
  • Foster positive attitudes in health professionals and encourage them to provide more accessible and equitable Primary Health Care services for disadvantaged groups and communities
  • Develop the leadership capabilities of public health professionals in the management of Primary Health Care and District Level Public Health Programs
  • Enhance Vocational Competence of public health professionals through advanced education in health strategies, health promotion, and health programming
