Established in 2017 BS on Baishakh 14 as a primary school, this Sri Mahendra Secondary School has been adding grades every year. It successfully obtained approval as a Lower Secondary School in 2021. In order to become a Secondary School by 2025, grade 9 was introduced in 2024 and grade 10 in the academic session of 2026. Therefore, Sri Mahendra Secondary School, located in Bhalam, Pokhara Lekhnath Metropolitan Municipality Ward No. 20, Kaski district, is one of the oldest community schools in the district.
This school offers full English medium education and streams both general and technical courses from grade 9 onwards. It's the only school in Kaski district offering a technical stream under Kaski district areas number 1 and 2, and the only school in the entire district running the Agriculture Science subject from grades 9 to 13.
The school has been making significant contributions in various fields. It has produced graduates who are now working as teachers, doctors, engineers, pilots, administrators, security personnel, business owners, and civil servants, contributing to both national and international employment sectors, as well as politics and social service. The school also holds a leading position in the educational index of Kaski district.
Having achieved 8th position in the Secondary Education Examination Board, the school has established a national identity. In the past, through vocational education, it introduced advanced technologies in the field of agriculture, and its contributions to the areas of food production, horticulture, and vegetable farming have left a lasting impact on the region.
