Pokhara University School of Health and Allied Sciences
With the establishment of the Faculty of Science and Technology in 1997 “School of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Sciences” was launched in Pokhara City. School had a very modest start with B.Pharm. Program. In 2003, School has started B.Sc.MLT program aiming to meet the challenges of the health of the 21st century in Nepal. In 2005, the Faculty of Science and Technology shifted to the academic complex of Pokhara University in Lekhnath Municipality, which is famous as the Garden City of Seven Lakes. Since the same year school has launched M. Pharm. in the natural product chemistry program.
In 2008, the school has started a new Health Professional course; bachelor in Public Health. In 2009, the name of the school was changed to School of Health and Allied Sciences and BSc. Nursing program was started.
To meet the mission of Pokhara University, from this year 2010, the school of Health and Allied Sciences is starting M.Pharm in Pharmaceutical Care under the department of Pharmacy and MMLS (Microbiology) program under the Department of Laboratory Science.
School of Health and Allied Sciences, Pokhara University has adopted four years academic bachelor programs which are based on a credit-semester system with continuous internal evaluations. The academic year of the University consists of two-semester of 16 weeks each. The fall semester starts in September and the spring semester in March. Fresh Admissions are normally made at the beginning of the fall semester.
