Established in 2063 B.S., Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya, Surkhet was founded to extend quality education to remote and less-developed regions of Nepal, alongside the capital city, Kathmandu. Patronized by the Army Welfare Fund, the school primarily serves the children of in-service and retired military personnel while also welcoming civilian students.
Located in Birendranagar Municipality-09, Karnali Province, the school spans 16 bighas of land, providing a well-facilitated learning environment. It began its academic journey on 15th Kartik 2063 B.S. with Grade 4 and has since expanded, now offering education from Grade 6 to 12. With a diverse and dedicated team, the school currently has 625 students, 44 teaching staff, 59 non-teaching staff, and 32 army personnel ensuring a well-structured educational experience.
Strong leadership has shaped the institution, with Mr. Bhim Bahadur Basnet serving as the first principal (2063-2072), followed by the current principal, Mr. Thir Bahadur Thapa.
