Kathmandu University’s School of Engineering has introduced Nepal’s first Bachelor in Health Informatics program. This innovative four-year, eight-semester course, consisting of 127 credits, will be offered at KU School of Engineering. The program will also be available as an extended program at the College of Medical Sciences in Bharatpur and Manipal College of Medical Sciences in Pokhara, extending its reach beyond the Kathmandu Valley.
A definitive agreement was signed between the School of Engineering and its two affiliated colleges, marking the formal initiation of this highly demanded program. The signing ceremony was attended by the Dean of the School of Engineering, representatives from both affiliated colleges, and the Registrar of Kathmandu University.
“We are thrilled to launch the Health Informatics program in collaboration with the College of Medical Sciences, Bharatpur, and Manipal College of Medical Sciences, Pokhara,” said Manish Pokharel, Dean of the School of Engineering. “This partnership reflects our commitment to making advanced healthcare education accessible across Nepal.”
The Bachelor in Health Informatics program offers a comprehensive education through project-based learning, internships, and lab-oriented courses. Students will benefit from modern labs, industry internships, and a curriculum bridging the healthcare and information technology gap.
