Kathmandu University Hosts 29th Convocation Ceremony

In a celebration of academic excellence, Kathmandu University conferred degrees upon 1,838 students during the 29th Convocation Ceremony. The Prime Minister and Chancellor of the University, Pushpa Kamal Dahal personally awarded graduation certificates to the accomplished graduates.

The diverse group of graduates included eighteen individuals who received degrees in Ph.D., D.M, and MCH categories under the School of Arts, three in Education, twelve in Medical Sciences, and two in Science subjects.

The convocation program extended to 38 M.Phil., 314 Master's, 52 Post Graduate Diploma, and 1,416 Bachelor's students from various schools, with Associate Professor and University Spokesperson, Ekku Maya Pun, sharing the notable achievements during the ceremony.

A historic moment unfolded as the university awarded degrees in emerging fields, including the first-ever Master of Technology in Artificial Intelligence under the School of Engineering, Master of Science in Midwifery under the School of Medical Sciences, and Master in Higher Education under the School of Education.

Acknowledging outstanding academic performance, the Chancellor's Gold Medal was presented to Sanam Dhakal, achieving an impressive 84.26 percentage in the Bachelor's level from Birat Medical College in Biratnagar.

Further accolades were bestowed in the Master of Business ADministration (MBA) category, where Binayak Ghimire earned the highest CGPA of 89, securing the Chancellor's Gold Medal. Ankit Suvedi achieved the highest CGPA of 78 in Master in Business Management (MBM), earning the title of the best student. In the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) category, Sanskriti Shrestha from Birat Medical College received the Gold Medal.

The Convocation Ceremony, attended by dignitaries such as Prime Minister Puspa Kamal Dahal, Minister of State for Education Pramila Kumari, and physician Dr. Gouri Shankar Lal Das, showcased the university's commitment to academic excellence, gender equality, and global engagement. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa emphasized the university's dedication to addressing pressing issues, such as climate change and sustainable development.

As Kathmandu University marks its 29th Convocation Ceremony, the event also signifies the 96th Senate meeting of the University, highlighting its ongoing commitment to academic governance and institutional development. The ceremony served as a testament to the university's continuous evolution and significant contributions to the educational landscape.
