B.Ed in Nepal: Programs, Colleges and Features

Tribhuvan University's Faculty of Education has been offering the B.Ed. (Annual) program since its establishment in 1956 as the College of Education. Initially, the program was two years long, extended to three years, and now it spans four years. 

Tribhuvan University recently launched a hybrid education program incorporating information technology. This new program, the Eight-Semester Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology Education (BICTE) is offered through 27 education colleges. Meanwhile, the traditional B.Ed. Program remains the most popular bachelor's degree, available at over 500 colleges.

For advancing educational excellence and innovation, Kathmandu University School of Education (KUSOED) has been introducing a diverse array of programs, reflecting its commitment to addressing the evolving educational needs of the modern world. These new programs include the Bachelor of English Studies and the Bachelor of Education in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), aimed at enhancing language proficiency and teaching methodologies. The Bachelor of Education in Chinese Language Teaching (BEd in CLT) underscores the increasing importance of Chinese language skills in the global landscape.

Furthermore, KUSOED has introduced several Bachelor of Technical Education (B.Tech Ed) programs in specialized fields such as Mechanical Engineering (automotive, Mechanical, Civil, and Livestock). These programs are designed to equip students with technical expertise and practical skills, preparing them for careers in engineering and technical education. There is a wide gap between tutors and educators to teach vocational engineering programs in Nepal. As the use of career engineers as tutors could yield few expected results, the launch of Bachelor in Technical Education programs by KUSOED is expected to fill this gap.
