Fine Arts in Nepal

Nepal's fine art education traces its roots back to the establishment of Lalitkala Campus in 1894. Despite this early foundation, the field struggled to attract students until recently. A growing recognition of its potential among young people has sparked a surge of interest. As the country's oldest and largest fine art institution, Lalitkala Campus now boasts approximately 800 students exploring disciplines such as illustration, painting, music studio, and exhibition design. This burgeoning popularity is also reshaping Nepal's art market, with many graduates becoming entrepreneurs or full-time artists actively participating in Kathmandu's vibrant exhibition scene.
