Tribhuvan University (TU) offers MBBS program in Nepal and enrolls 750 students in Eight Medical Colleges. Out of the total seats, 178 seats are scholarship seats. The fee for the MBBS program ranges from NPR 4,168,090 to 4,595,720 for Nepalese students.

Entrance Exams

The Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) is a 5½ years integrated program (4 ½ years medical school, followed by one year rotatory internship). The MBBS program aims to produce socially responsible and competent medical doctors who can meet the existing and emerging challenges of the national and international healthcare systems.

The first two academic years focus on basic medical science, with interdepartmental integration and clinical and community correlation. A holistic approach is taken to health and the healthcare system in Nepal.

The course is unique because it is a community-oriented and partly community-based program. It focuses on early exposure to community medicine and clinical subjects, follows an integrated approach to learning, includes problem-based learning, and promotes self-directed learning.

The course also focuses on medical ethics and information management.
The graduates of MBBS program will be able to take medical history; perform clinical examinations, diagnose various diseases and treat them, manage life-threatening medical emergencies; communicate with patients and their families; plan and manage preventive, promotive and rehabilitative health services and conduct research in health sector.

Eight Medical Colleges offer an MBBS program in Nepal, affiliated with Tribhuvan University. The course standards and criteria will strictly adhere to the requirements of the Nepal Medical Council. 

Eligibility

  • Must have studied Physics, Chemistry and Biology from a recognized educational institution and passed with a minimum of 50 percent or 2.4 CGPA in the proficiency certificate level or Grade 12 Science group.

or

  • Students from A-level or other similar programs with different grading systems should have studied Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects and passed with a minimum of 50 percent or 2.4 CGPA.

or

  • Proficiency Certificate or Diploma in Health Science (General Medicine or Medical Lab Technology or Ophthalmic Science or Dental Science or Pharmacy or Radiography or Ayurveda or Physiotherapy) with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and passed in Physics, Chemistry and Biology from the National Examination Board Must have obtained at least 50% or 2.4 CGPA marks and have obtained the equivalence of Grade 12th Science group and should be registered in the respective council.

Admission Criteria

Provisions for Admission Process

  1. In order to pass the integrated admission process, a minimum of 50 percentile should be obtained.

  2. One mark will be awarded for each correct answer and marks will be deducted at the rate of 0.25 for each wrong answer.

Candidates who have been successfully selected in the admission process will have to submit the following original and 1/1 photocopy of the following documents to the concerned educational institution at the time of admission.

  1. Certificate of qualification, Transcript and Character Certificate of 10+2 and SLC/SEE or Equivalent.

  2. Copy of Citizenship / Passport.

  3. Admit card of the Entrance Examination.

  4. Documents submitted for reservation.

  5. Certificate of Equivalence for the students with certificates from foreign institutions.

*Foreign candidates wishing to study in the vacated seat for foreign students must fill in the online application form mentioning the academic program of their choice within the time limit mentioned in this notice.
