Law provides rich employment opportunities and an unequaled promise of power and prestige, contributing to the profession's allure. Legal work requires outstanding communication skills, argumentation capacity, concrete critical thinking, and analytical talents. In today's culture, the law has become the focal point of our work and attention. As a result, the study of the law has grown in popularity and pace.
Universities worldwide, including Nepal, have recently begun to offer a five-year integrated legal study known as the B.A.LL.B. program. Students will receive the B.A.LL.B. degree upon completion of the course. The popularity of the B.A.LL.B. course and degree has grown significantly both within and outside of Nepal. The program encompasses various academic components and demands practical aspects such as the moot court, research paper submissions, and simulated trials. The B.A.LL.B. course satisfies national and international requirements and prepares the country's next generation of attorneys, judges, intellectuals, and public officials of tremendous competence and integrity. The main objectives of the program are;
- To impart legal education and give them the analytical tools needed for the pursuit of professional excellence, and inculcate in them the qualities of leadership.
- To provide a comprehensive and interdisciplinary legal education relevant to society’s needs, matching international standards without compromising Nepal's legal heritage and cultural ethos.
- To train students in the practical application of the law through clinical education, seminars, research submissions, moot courts, trial advocacy, and internships.
- To allow students to forge diverse career paths (including pursuing higher studies), maximizing their freedom of choice to choose their future profession.
- To foster sound civic sense in students and train them to become responsible citizens of democratic societies
Salient Features
Graduates of the B.A.LL.B. program will be able to communicate in the legal profession, interpret and apply laws, investigate niche opportunities in the legal sector, specialising in legal areas of interest, and succeed in legal employment. Students will become vital assets to any company in various sectors, including litigation, government service, business offices, and international and non-governmental organizations.
Eligibility
The followings are the main requirements to study BALLB at Pokhara University.
- Any person (Nepali citizen or Foreigner) can apply for admission to the program.
- A student who has passed School Level Certificate Education (SLCE) / (10+2) level or any other equivalent degree in any subject with a minimum grade ‘D+’ in each subject (for the student who has passed the SLCE from NEB till 2078 BS) or a minimum grade ‘D’ in each subject (for the student who has passed the SLCE from NEB in 2079 BS) with a minimum CGPA of 1.6 in aggregate in a 4.0-grade point system or pass division from a recognized board.

Admission Criteria
There are altogether 40 seats available in the B.A.LL.B. program. 20 percent of seats are allocated for scholarships as per the rules of the University. A separate application is required as per University Scholarship Procedure.
Curricular Structure
The B.A.LL.B. Curriculum consists of compulsory and elective courses. The compulsory courses have been tailored to provide sufficient grounding in the principal branches of the law. Elective courses, on the other hand, amplify students’ understanding of particular branches of the law. Normally, one credit is equivalent to one hour of lecture per week per semester. The minimum number of class hours for a course of three credit hours in a semester is approximately 48 hours.
