Established in 2014 BS (1957 AD), Janakalyan Secondary School is a prominent public institution located in Phoksing, Gulmi, within Kaligandaki Rural Municipality. Initially founded as a primary school by Late Gunanidhi Sapkota and local social workers, the school has grown into a comprehensive educational hub, offering education from pre-primary to grade 12.
The school has evolved over the years, progressing from a primary school to a secondary institution in 2038 BS, and later to a higher secondary school in 2065 BS. It offers both general and technical streams for students in grades 9-12, with a wide range of subjects including accounting, economics, education, and marketing.
Janakalyan is situated in a serene location with panoramic views of the Kali Gandaki River and the Annapurna Himalayas, surrounded by lush hills. The school serves a diverse community, drawing students from Kaligandaki, Chandrakot, and Sattawati rural municipalities.
Despite facing challenges such as infrastructure damage from the 2072 BS earthquake, the school continues to grow and develop, thanks to the collective efforts of the community, management committee, and stakeholders. Today, with modern facilities including a science lab, computer lab, and library, Janakalyan remains dedicated to fostering holistic education and empowering students for a brighter future.
