The government of Nepal allocates 120 seats for candidates who want to pursue Bachelor of Midwifery Science (BMS) in Nepal. In 2025, the government allocated 77 scholarship seats for students who wish to study BMS in Nepal.
Available Midwifery scholarship seats are divided into the general scholarship (55%, i.e., 42 seats) and the reservation scholarship (45%, i.e., 35 seats). In both categories, the candidates are selected purely based on merit within this cluster.
For example, for general scholarship, 42 highest-ranking students in the MECEE-BL for BMS program are chosen irrespective of gender, religion, and ethnicity. For reservation, the competition will be only among the eligible clusters of students in each sub-category. For example, based on rank, six Khas-Arya students will be selected to study Bachelor of Midwifery Science (BMS).
Four Health Science Academies (BPKIHS, Karnali Academy, NAMS-Birhospital, and PAHS) offer B. Midwifery Science program in Nepal. KU School of Medical Sciences and Maharajgunj Nursing Campus also offer B. Midwifery program.
