Institute of Engineering (IOE), TU launched New Courses in M.Sc. Level

Institute of Engineering (IOE) has started five new courses at its M.Sc. level from the year 2077. Two programs started in Pulchowk Campus are

  1. Computer Engineering Specialization in Data Science and Analytics, and
  2. Master in Architecture

 Similarly, two courses started in Paschimanchal Campus are

  1. Geospatial  Engineering, and
  2. Rock and Tunnel Engineering

A new program viz. Informatics and Intelligent Systems Engineering has been launched this year at Thapathali Campus.

Pashchimanchal Campus has launched the course in Rock and Tunnel Engineering, and Geospatial Engineering for the first time in Nepal. With this, Nepal has stepped forward to produce skilled manpower in the field of rock and tunnel Engineering. The orientation for M.Sc. in Rock and Tunnel Engineering for the first Batch has been completed. Campus Chief Associate Professor Er. Ram Prasad Poudel has chaired the program.

Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Shashidhar Ram Joshi, Dean, IOE has expressed his congratulations for the first batch and has mentioned that IOE is always ahead to launch programs as per nation's need. Special Guest, Prof. Dr.  Krishna Kanta Panthi (NTNU), Norway has discussed on Importance of capacity building in Rock and Tunnel Engineering in Nepal. He also highlighted the course of Rock and Tunnel Engineering.

Special Guest, Dr. Gyanendra Lal Shrestha, President, Nepal Tunneling Association (NTA) has elaborated various tunneling practices in Nepal. He also added that Nepal Tunneling Association will collaborate with IOE, Pashchimanchal Campus for the successful launching of program. Er. Deepak Thapa, HOD of Civil and Geomatics Engineering has provided brief introduction of department along with guidelines.

Mr. Udda Samser Mall, Senior Tunnel (TBM) Engineer (WRC Alumni) has shared his international job experience in Tunnel Engineering. Mr. Ram Hari Sharma (VP- NTA), Director-Hydro Tunneling and Research  Pvt. Ltd., Dr. Pawan Kumar Shrestha (MD- Hydro Tunneling and Research Pvt. Ltd.), Dr. Chhatra Bahadur Basnet (Geotechnical Specialist NEA Hydro  Engineering Company Ltd.), Mr. Tulsi Ram Bhattarai (Project Manager-Rupataal Conservation Integrated Development Project) has participated in  orientation program.

Similarly, Er. Kaushal Chandra GC, Coordinator of MSC in Rock and Tunnel Engineering has conducted the orientation program. Campus Chief Associate Professor Er. Ram Prasad Poudel has chaired the program, while Dean of  IOE Prof. Dr. Shashidhar Ram Joshi was the chief guest in the program.

Special Guest, Dr. Surya Raj Acharya, Infrastructure Expert has shared his valuable experiences and importance in Infrastructure Sector: Issues and Challenges, Scope, Recent Trends, and Research Opportunities. Dr.  Krishna Raj Adhikari, Chief, Research management Unit has highlighted the ongoing research activities in Pashchimanchal Campus. Er. Deepak  Thapa, HOD of Civil and Geomatics Engineering has provided brief introduction of the department along with guidelines. Alumni Er. Suman Giri, Chief, Infrastructure Development Office (Lamjung) has shared his experiences and highlighted the importance of this course.
