Codefest 2023 concluded with the Far-Western team emerging as the winner. The event was organized by Code for Change in Kathmandu, Nepal. The founder of Code for Change, Krishna Prasad Pokharel, mentioned that the organization has been conducting such annual programs, engaging students studying technology in Nepal since its inception. They have been involved in various workshops, boot camps, and tech consultancy, focusing on personal and professional development, advocating for the proper use of technology and raising awareness through different programs. Code for Change, Nepal's largest tech organization, successfully managed Codefest 2023 from August to October, culminating in a grand finale on October 9, 10, and 11.
Over 100-plus teams participated in Codefest from various provinces, with the winning team, NAST from Far-Western Province, selected for the national competition after excelling in the regional audition. They presented a project centered around 'Good Health and Well-being' based on a Blood-Link project. Amrit Science Campus, Bagmati Province, secured the first runner-up position with a project focusing on 'Sustainable Development Goal 11' and the 'Smart City' project. Similarly, the second runner-up, Mechi Mavericks, Province No. 1, presented the 'RoadSense' project, aimed at detecting accidents on roads and providing real-time alerts to the authorities.
The winning team of Codefest 2023 received a cash prize of NPR 50,000/-, along with complimentary web hosting from the hosting partner, a three-month free subscription package from the knowledge partner, and a 50% discount on laptop services from U-Soft Computers. The first runner-up team received NPR 25,000/- cash prize, along with similar perks, and the second runner-up team received NPR 15,000/- cash prize, along with the same benefits.
Gold Sponsors for Codefest 2023 included Next Education Consultancy, Himalaya College of Engineering, Texas College, and Sagarmatha College. The event also had numerous other Silver Sponsors, Outrich Partners, Community Partners, and Media Partners involved in the state-level programs.
According to Krishna Prasad Pokharel, the project lead, events like Codefest have made a significant impact in the IT sector across Nepal and have served as a platform for many students. He emphasized that Code for Change remains dedicated to creating positive changes through technology and will continue to organize such programs.
