ABOUT

The Central Department of Public Administration (CDPA) stands as Nepal's premier institution dedicated to the study of public administration within the framework of Tribhuvan University's Faculty of Management (FoM). CDPA is intricately involved in shaping Nepal's civil service system by offering a curriculum that aligns with the nation's evolving governmental needs. Collaborating closely with the government, CDPA actively engages in curriculum enhancements and the development of new programs to address contemporary requirements.

Rooted in history, the genesis of public administration education can be traced back to the initiation of a one-year certificate program and in-service training for HMG Second Class Gazetted Officers at Tribhuvan University's Center for Economic Development and Administration (CEDA). The subsequent establishment of the Public Administration Campus (PAC) in 1976, a constituent campus of Tribhuvan University, marked a pivotal moment. PAC, which initially conducted a "Diploma in Public Administration" (DPA Program until 1979), eventually expanded its objectives in 1979 to include the conferment of a Master's degree in Public Administration.

In 1986, Tribhuvan University took a significant step forward by establishing the Central Department of Public Administration (CDPA), a move aimed at enhancing the department's autonomy and overall improvement. The CDPA, housed within the Public Administration Campus, has been a bastion of education, teaching, and research in the realm of public affairs management.

Within the Public Administration Campus, a dedicated team of compassionate instructors and staff, along with various enriching activities, facilitates students' academic and social development. The campus Chief serves as the primary administrative officer, leading a team of 16 academic staff, including teaching assistants and guest professors. The administrative aspect is further supported by a dozen personnel managing day-to-day operations. Noteworthy figures contributing to the MPA program include eminent individuals such as Prof. Fred Rigs from the University of Hawaii, Prof. Dr. P.S Bhattanakar from the Rajasthan University of Jaipur, and Prof. Avubewa from the University of the Philippines. These luminaries underscore the international standing and academic prestige of CDPA's MPA program.
