ABOUT US

Central Department of English is one of the major departments under the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of Tribhuvan University, the oldest and the largest university of Nepal.

The Central Department of English is the largest department in Tribhuvan University in terms the number of students and faculty working in it. It is located in Kirtipur within the premises of Central Campus of Tribhuvan University.

The Department started Master in English program in 1965 and has produced a large number of scholars so far. Most of its alumni work in the academic sector all over the country and media. The Department runs Master in English and Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) programs, and assists the Dean s Office to run the Ph.D. program in English.

The Department is planning to diversify academic programs under the department by running course in Media Studies, Translation Studies, and Creative Writing as well.
