Shivaraj Municipality is one of the 10 municipalities in Kapilvastu District of Lumbini Province. As per the 2021 census, the municipality has a total population of 84,810, comprising 41,328 males (48.7%) and 43,482 females (51.3%), with a literacy rate of 72.66%. Spanning 284.07 square kilometers, Shivaraj Municipality exhibits the population density of 299 people per square kilometer. Administratively, it is divided into 11 wards.
According to the latest publicly available report of the Center for Education and Human Resource Development (CEHRD), Shivaraj has 90 schools. Of these, 24 are private and 53 are public. The breakdown includes 70 pre-schools, 79 basic schools, and 16 secondary schools. Among the secondary schools, 7 offer +2 programs.
