Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship Scheme 2024-25

The Embassy of India, Kathmandu invites online applications for Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship Schemes from Nepali nationals studying in Nepal for 2024-2025.

The Online Application may please be submitted through the web portal  www.goischolarship.com.np. The portal will be closed at 00.00 hrs on November 20, 2024. 

Important Dates 

  1. Application Opens: October 25, 2024 
  2. Last date to Apply: November 19, 2024 up to 23:59 hrs.

Students need not visit the Embassy but have to submit all the documents online which will be verified by the Embassy itself.

ELIGIBILITY FOR MAHATMA GANDHI SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME 2024-25

 

  1. Applicant should be a regular student of Class XI (not Diploma) and studying in any recognized school/college of Nepal. Proof of student studying in Class XI  and not receiving scholarship from any other source duly attested by Principal/Head of Institute to be uploaded.
  2. Applicant should have secured at least 60% aggregate marks at the High School (SEE)/Class 10th and mark sheet to be uploaded.
  3. The applicant should be a citizen of Nepal. Citizenship certificate of self or parents to be uploaded.
  4. Incase of Physically challenged candidate, certificate issued by officer of the Government of Nepal (Local/District Administration office, etc.)  to be uploaded. 
  5. The family income of the candidate must be less than NRs. 2,00,000/- per annum. Latest income certificate certificate issued by officer of the Government of Nepal (Local/District Administration office, etc.)  to be uploaded. 

Scholarship Amount and Duration

The selected candidates will get a scholarship amount of NPR 24,000 per annum for 2 years (XI and XII). 

The scholarship will continue in Class XII only on submission of the following documents: 

  1. A copy of mark sheet of class 11
  2. Present Status Certificate of promotion to and studying in Class XII with percentage obtained in Class XI, duly authenticated by Principal/Head of Institute.

The scholarship awardees may submit above-mentioned documents latest by December 31 each year via Email on mail ID: attacheedu.kathmandu@mea.gov.in. Further installments of scholarship will be deposited in the bank a/c (Opened by the Embassy in the name of the scholarship awardee) only on receipt of requisite documents. If the documents are not received in the given time-frame, the scholarship will be terminated. 

Please Note:

1. Applicants are advised to interact/communicate solely with the Education Wing of the Embassy in Kathmandu and the Consulate General of India at Birgunj.

2. The applicants should indicate their address and contact telephone/mobile phone numbers/email address clearly in the online application form, and also upload the recent passport size photograph. Any change in address/ telephone/ mobile number should be intimated immediately through a letter bearing the candidate’s signature.

3. Filling up of wrong data/information such as marks, etc., and in absence of documents as mentioned in the ‘documents required’ column in the online application form will lead to outright rejection and cancellation of the application/candidature/scholarship and no further claim will be entertained.

4. Before filling up the application form online, students/guardians are advised to read instructions/guidelines thoroughly, as there is no scope for modification in the online system once the form is submitted. The candidate should keep the Email address and Password in safe custody for future correspondence/reference.

5. The Embassy of India reserves the right to accept or reject any application at its discretion.
