Awareness Session Against Drug Abuse Successfully Concludes at SAIM College

SAIM College successfully organized an Awareness Session against Drug Abuse as a Community-Police Partnership initiative. The event brought together a diverse array of stakeholders, officials, and community members in a collective stand against the rising threat of drug abuse.

The program was graced by the Chief Guest, AIG Tek Bahadur Tamang, Head of the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, Ranipokhari, and chaired by Principal of SAIM College, Mr. Ashok Raj Pandey.

Among the distinguished speakers were DSP Rabiraj Thapaliya, Head of the Community Branch of the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, and DSP Birendra Godar, Head of the New Baneshwor Police Circle. The esteemed panel of speakers highlighted the ongoing efforts of the police force to strengthen community engagement and create a safer environment for young people.

Notable participation was observed from local governance bodies, including Mr. Shatis Tandukar and Ms. Sunita Bhitrakoti from KMC Ward-10. Moreover, diverse perspectives were shared by Inspector Deepak Babu K.C. of the DPO Kathmandu, Inspector Surya Prasad Paudel from the Koteshwor Traffic Police, and President Navin Luitel of the Baneshwor Business Association.

The session witnessed participation from over 450 attendees comprising Bachelor’s level students, parents, and representatives from various community-based organizations. These included members of the Community Service Center Baneshwor-10, the Hostel Business Association, Nepal Hostel Association, and several local clubs and committees.

All in all, the event served as a platform for awareness and a catalyst for action. It underscored the urgent need for informed choices among youth and showcased how multi-sector collaboration, spanning law enforcement, education, local governance, and civil society can effectively combat the danger of drug abuse.

Through awareness, education, and joint effort, this session marked a significant step forward in creating a safer and healthier future for all.
