The British College Unveils Innovative BSc (Hons) Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence) Program

The British College (TBC) celebrated a milestone on January 19, 2024, with the official launch of its groundbreaking BSc (Hons) Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence) program, developed in partnership with the University of the West of England (UWE), UK.

The launch event, held at the prestigious Yak and Yeti Hotel, marked the initiation of admissions for this program, which has received accreditation from both the Engineering Council and the British Computer Society in the UK.

In collaboration with FinTech Alliance Nepal, the event brought together industry professionals, distinguished guests, and key stakeholders, including the British Ambassador to Nepal. The evening commenced with an insightful opening address by Gunakar Bhatta, the Executive Director of Nepal Rastra Bank, who paved the way for a panel discussion on the dynamic world of digital wallets. Industry experts from leading digital wallet platforms—Esewa, Khalti, and Imepay—shared their insights during the engaging discussion.

Sanjib Subba, President of FinTech Alliance, underscored the pivotal role of Artificial Intelligence in shaping the future of digital wallets. He expressed gratitude to TBC for introducing internationally recognized UK programs that are driving transformation in Nepal's IT sector.

The Chief Guest, British Ambassador H.E. Rob Fenn, delivered the Keynote Speech, expressing delight at witnessing the launch of this pioneering program. Ambassador Fenn highlighted the collaboration between TBC and UWE as a testament to the strong ties between the UK and Nepal, emphasizing their joint commitment to advancing education and fostering innovation.

Concluding the event, Dr. Patrick McCrudden, Deputy Principal of TBC, reiterated the college's longstanding focus on nurturing new talents for a better future. Dr. McCrudden emphasized the program's significance in addressing the increasing demand for skilled professionals in the age of AI, preparing students to take the lead in the fourth industrial revolution.
