Teachers Service Commission Initiates Review of Examination Standards in Education Sector

The Teaches Service Commission has announced plans to review the standards concerning examinations and applications. This decision comes amidst a growing need for ensuring transparency and efficiency in the recruitment process within the education sector.

During a session at the Federal Parliament on Wednesday, Minister of Education, Science, and Technology, Sumana Shrestha, disclosed the formation of a specialized committee tasked with scrutinizing the criteria in response to queries raised by parliamentarians.

In particular, Minister Shrestha emphasized the necessity of revising the examination questions for teaching permits and commission assessments. She highlighted ongoing efforts to analyze the inquiries raised within the parliament and emphasized the formation of an expert committee dedicated to assessing the content being taught by educators.

Furthermore, Minister Shrestha shed light on another significant issue pertaining to lost answer sheets in examinations conducted by Tribhuvan University. She underscored the establishment of a committee to investigate this matter and address concerns surrounding the digitalization of examination systems.

On a separate note, Minister Shrestha also shared insights into discussions with the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding the potential establishment of additional medical colleges in Nepal. These talks are aimed at facilitating the enrollment of foreign students and exploring avenues for collaboration in the education sector.

In line with efforts to enhance educational outcomes, Minister Shrestha directed the Education and Human Resource Development Center to conduct a comprehensive study on student retention rates from Class 1 to Class 10. She stressed the importance of understanding dropout rates and providing appropriate guidance to address the issue.

Additionally, Minister Shrestha urged against politicizing students understanding of governance and administration. She emphasized the importance of equipping students with practical knowledge of government operations alongside theoretical education.

Meanwhile, the Search Committee tasked with selecting the Vice-Chancellor for Purbanchal University has initiated evaluations. Minister Shrestha provided clarity on the roles of various university officials, underscoring the significance of this appointment in the university's leadership structure.

The developments within the education sector reflect a commitment to fostering transparency, accountability, and excellence in Nepal's educational institutions.
