On Jestha 28, Dr. Taraprasad Upadhyaya was appointed as the Campus Chief of the Lumbini Banijya Campus located in Devdaha, Butwal. In a Sunday meeting held by the Campus Management Committee, Dr. Upadhyaya was appointed as the Campus Chief. He has been appointed for his second term after completing his first five-year tenure.
Dr. Upadhyay, who has been teaching at the same campus since 2054 BS, was appointed Dr. Upadhyaya as the Campus Chief for the first time in a meeting of the Campus Management Committee starting from Asar 1, 2075 BS. Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic during most of his tenure, the long-term vision of transforming the campus into a recognized university gained momentum. Under the autonomous jurisdiction of Tribhuvan University, four autonomous programs were added to the operations.
Upon his appointment for the second term as the Campus Chief, Dr. Upadhyaya expressed gratitude to the Campus Management Committee and expressed his dedication to fulfilling the dream seen by the campus with the selfless support of the professors, staff, and students.
Born in Gajedaham of Kapilvastu and having studied in India, Dr. Upadhyaya had taught for three years at the North-East Hill University in India at the beginning. He has also been a gold medalist at the postgraduate level at Guwahati University. While teaching at Lumbini Banijya Campus, he has also been associated with studying governance in commercial banks in Nepal from Banaras Hindu University and LLB from Tribhuvan University.
He has published 17 books on writing and editorial examinations, and more than 26 research-based articles have been published in journals from Nepal and various countries.
Currently residing in Ward No. 9 of Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City along with his wife Rajani Sharma, daughter Atmika Gyanwali, and son Anuranjan Gyanwali, Dr. Upadhyaya, who has been the former president of the Rotary Club of Butwal, is also an advisor to various business and social organizations. He is also the director of Shine Resunga Development Bank.
