Charting the Path of Entrepreneurship: Kavre Student's Venture Receives Rs Forty Lakh Grant

A pioneering student at the Kabhre Multiple Campus located in Budol, Banepa Municipality-6, Dhulikhel, Kavrepalanchok, has been awarded a substantial grant of Rs 40 lakh to expand his business. This financial boon, courtesy of the University Grants Commission, is designed to nurture entrepreneurship within the academic community.

The grant, which is to be utilized over a four-year span, is provided interest-free, underscoring the commission's commitment to fostering business insight among students. Purushottam Nepal, a postgraduate student in the sociology department, emerged as the beneficiary among four contenders who presented their projects to the campus authorities. His project, which focuses on crafting furniture from various types of wood, caught the attention and approval of the selection committee.

As part of the 'Entrepreneurship Support Program' facilitated by the University Grants Commission, the campus has already disbursed the first installment of Rs 24 lakh to Nepal. This initiative not only underscores the commission's dedication to promoting entrepreneurial ventures but also provides a tangible pathway for students like Nepal to bring their innovative ideas to fruition.

Nepal is expected to leverage this grant to further his furniture business, with the stipulation that the funds be returned to the campus after four years, interest-free. This revolving fund mechanism ensures that future projects can also benefit from this financial support, fostering a cycle of innovation and entrepreneurship within the campus.

The initiative has garnered support from local authorities as well, with Banepa Municipality Mayor Shantiratna Shakya emphasizing the importance of responsibility and result-oriented work in society. He highlighted that a culture of accountability and integrity could significantly reduce the reliance on foreign labor.

"If the job is done honestly, there will be no need to hire foreign workers," he said, "for that, it is necessary to pay attention to the work." During this, he asked the students to take the opportunity to become healthy along with their studies as they are currently preparing to operate covered table tennis for sports on the upper roof of the Kabhre Multiple Campus to support the health sector. Lambodar Kayastha, chairman of the Kavre Multiple Campus Management Committee, said that the campus is conducting various programs apart from teaching.
