The Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) program is designed to prepare professionals for teaching positions in universities, colleges and training institutions, and for managerial and consultancy positions in business, government, NGOs, and research institutions. This program also aims at upgrading the faculty members in the areas of business studies, who are already employed as teachers. The specific objectives of this program are:

  1. Provide deeper knowledge and research training in important subjects within the fields of management
  2. Train students to become management specialists, prepare to participate in management promotion practice and research, and to improve the quality and effectiveness of management promotion action
  3. Prepare the students for ensuing Ph.D. in management
  4. Provide opportunities for acquiring skills in research methodologies and critical analysis of decision making options in sustainable enterprises resources

 

 

Eligibility

Entry Requirements:

  1. Applicants must have a Master’s degree in business studies, management, commerce, or equivalent subjects (recognized by Tribhuvan University) with at least a second division. 
  2. They should have intensive study in at least one of the fields of professions most relevant to management, including but not limited to management, marketing, finance and accounting. 
  3. They must have at least two years of teaching or consultancy experience in management subjects or areas. 
  4. They must be sponsored by their employer with the confirmation that their present job will continue after the completion of the programme. Proficiency in English language is essential as it is the language of instruction, examination, written assignments, and the thesis.

 

Admission CriteriaThe selection procedure emphasizes academic achievement of the applicant as well as his/her potential for becoming an able management and research specialist. Consequently, a multifactor selection model incorporating scholastic achievements, work experience, and performance in group discussion/seminar, entrance test and personal interview will be used for selecting participants. The following factors will be taken into account in selecting applicants for admission:

  1. Depth and relevance of educational training
  2. Extent and relevance of work experience
  3. Degree of promise for a productive career in management promotion
  4. Consideration to ensure diversity in the pool of students admitted to the program
  5. Degree of convergence of student and faculty interests

  1. Successful completion of 30 credit hours as prescribed with a minimum of passing grade in courses with an aggregate CGPA of 3.0, Grade B
  2. Completion of the program must occur within three years from the time of initial registration and enrollment
