ABOUT
Tribhuvan University's Institute of Medicine initiated undergraduate Public Health education in 1986 and postgraduate education in 1991, marking the first such programs in Nepal. Until 2018, the Maharajgunj Medical Campus conducted the bachelor's and master's level public health programs. Recognizing the need to enhance public health education and expand academic infrastructure, the Central Department of Public Health (CDPH) was established in August 2018 by a decision of the TU executive council.
As an autonomous entity under the Institute of Medicine, CDPH now oversees admissions and the teaching of the Bachelor of Public Health (BPH), Master of Public Health (MPH), Master in Health Promotion and Education (MHPE), Master in Public Health Nutrition (MPHN), and PhD in Public Health programs. CDPH also plans to introduce new public health programs in response to the country's needs.

- Develop service-oriented academic and research activities.
- Supports various level governments to develop public health policies and programs
- Enhance linkage of public health education to public health practices.
