For the first time in four years, the salaries of the Nepal Police officials have been revised in the budget for the fiscal year 2083/84. Presenting the budget on Jestha 15, 2083, Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle announced a 21% percent increase in the salary of civil servants.

Of the total increase, 10 percent will be reflected in the basic pay scale, while an additional 10 percent will be provided as a monthly incentive allowance. The existing dearness allowance of Rs. 5,000 per month has been retained.

According to the Finance Minister, the revision will raise the minimum remuneration, including grade increments, to Rs. 40,000, while remuneration for higher-level positions will exceed Rs. 100,000 per month.

For the fourth consecutive year, there will be no increase in the salaries of Nepal Police officials. However, there is some relief: during the budget speech for the upcoming fiscal year 2082/83, presented on Jestha 15, 2082, Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel announced a significant rise in the dearness allowance.

The allowance, which was previously Rs. 2,000, has now been increased to Rs. 5,000. This means Nepal Police officials across all levels will receive an additional Rs. 3,000 in their monthly salary package, offering some compensation amidst stagnant base salaries.

In the fiscal year 2079/80 budget, the Nepalese Government has implemented a 15% raise in salaries for government employees.

Furthermore, Nepal Police Officers are entitled to receive a monthly ration ranging from Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 24,000, which is separate from their salaries. This ration serves as an additional allowance for every police officer in Nepal, with those stationed in remote areas receiving a higher rate of around Rs. 800 per day, whereas the standard rate stands at Rs. 200 per day. Nepal Police Officers receive both their salaries and rations per month.

This table is based on previous fiscal data and will be updated with the FY 2083/84 budget figures once officially announced.
