Tribhuvan University (TU), Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FOHSS), has officially opened admissions for the PhD programs for the academic session beginning in Shrawan 2082 B.S.
The announcement follows a decision made by the Research Committee during its meeting held on 2082/03/03 B.S. As per the notice issued by the Dean’s Office, candidates who have completed their MPhil under the Faculty are eligible to apply for the PhD program.

Minimum Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates must have completed the MPhil program with a minimum CGPA of 3.0 or second division.
Applications will only be accepted in the subject area in which the MPhil was completed.
Required Documents:
Certified copies of academic transcripts, certificates, and character certificates from SLC to MPhil
Citizenship certificate
Equivalency certificate (mandatory for MPhil graduates from universities other than TU; applications without it will not be accepted)
Research proposal (in the prescribed format by the Dean's Office)
Summary of MPhil thesis
Peer-reviewed article authored solely or with the applicant as first author (with additional conditions)
A peer-reviewed article authored solely or with the applicant listed as the first author.
For articles published in Nepal, the journal must be indexed on NepJOL, have a DOI, and be accessible online.
Applicants must also submit a scan of the journal's cover page and table of contents.
Articles published in reputable international journals must include verification of peer-review status.
Articles published in predatory journals will not be accepted.
Additional Guidelines:
Foreign applicants holding MPhil or equivalent degrees who wish to pursue PhD under this program must consult the Dean’s Office and concerned Central Department. They must also comply with the “MPhil and PhD Program Operation Regulation 2077.”
Incomplete applications or failure to meet requirements will result in automatic disqualification without any obligation of explanation from the Faculty.
Upon approval of the application by the Dean’s Office, applicants must submit a bank voucher of NPR 15,000 (fifteen thousand) deposited at Nepal Bank Limited, Kirtipur Branch, Account No. 04500100099045000001, along with their application.
Important Notes:
Applications missing any required documents (such as transcripts) will be automatically rejected.
Only those who meet the eligibility criteria should proceed with the application fee deposit.
Permanent faculty members of Tribhuvan University must also submit a copy of their permanent appointment letter.
