Central Department of Rural Development, Kirtipur offers Doctor of Philosophy in Rural Development.

The course offers an overview of the philosophy of social sciences used in development research. 

By the end of the course students understand basic social research methods from social science perspective, and their applicability in rural development in different contexts. This course will thus equip students with basic capacities to apply philosophy of social sciences to real world problems and evaluate their use in published research.

Eligibility

The PhD in Rural Development is largely for students with a background in one or more of the social sciences, although many students have had degrees in disciplines ranging from the humanities to the natural sciences. The academic backgrounds of the current intake, for example, include Rural Development, Anthropology, Development Studies, Economics, Engineering, Geography, Mathematics, Political Science, Sociology, and Statistics. The normal requirement for admission is the equivalent of at least a second division in Master’s degrees (3.0 in GPA)
