University of Nepal (UoN) has invited applications for an appointment of Vice-Chancellor for the university. A Recommendation Committee of the university, formed by the Board of Trustees (BoT) invited applications from qualified and committed candidates for the position of the Vice-Chancellor.

Position Overview

The Vice-Chancellor, who will serve as the chief executive officer of the University, will be responsible for overall leadership, strategic planning, academic and operational excellence, and will represent the university at the national and international levels. The desirable candidate will be an inspiring leader with a proven record of academic and managerial accomplishment, and a vision for a better future and a commitment to meet the challenges of building a new university.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A doctorate from a recognized institution
  • Minimum of 15 years of leadership experience in higher education
  • Proven track record of academic and administrative achievements
  • Demonstrated ability to manage resources effectively, and lead organizational growth
  • Experience in fostering international collaboration and partnership
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and engage diverse stakeholders
  • Possess a high moral character
  • At least 35 years of age Terms of Appoint

Interested candidates are invited to submit the following documents:

  • A detailed updated CV
  • Degrees/certificates demonstrating the candidate’s educational qualification
  • Documents demonstrating the candidate’s experience and achievements in the academic or research fields
  • Documents demonstrating the candidate’s managerial skills and competence, leadership role, organizational accomplishment in the field of academic development, and documents demonstrating the candidate’s experience and accomplishment in any other sector
  • A written and duly signed declaration of not having any disqualification as per Rule 7 (1) of the “Regulations Governing Recommendation for the Appointment of Certain Officials and Nomination of Members of the University of Nepal, 2081”
  • A written and duly signed commitment to resign from any position currently held by the candidate in any university, educational institution or other institutions if appointed as the Vice Chancellor of UoN
  • A written outline of the strategy and work plan, not exceeding 2,000 words, that the candidate will adopt for fund raising
  • A written outline of the strategy and work plan, not exceeding 3,000 words, that the cadidate will adopt for academic development and mobilization of financial, academic, physical, and human resources of the university
  • A written outline, not exceeding 1,500 words, of how the candidate will proceed to attain the vision and mission of the university
  • A written outline, not exceeding 1,000 words, on the reforms needed in the field of higher education in Nepal
  • One copy each of five of your best articles, books or other intellectual outputs to your application. Please list all of your outputs on your CV
  • Names and contact information of three professional referees
  • A written and duly signed statement declaring that all submitted documents are true and authentic

Selection Process

Only the shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview with the UoN Recommendation Committee. The interview will include a presentation of the candidate's vision and strategic plan for the University of Nepal.
