As a nonprofit and public institution, Pokhara University offers full scholarships to over a thousand students each year. The university annually provides free scholarships to poor and talented students and those from reserved quotas who wish to study in its constituent, joint constituent, and affiliated colleges. The scholarship is provided through an open competition across the county.
The university offers 10% scholarships in its affiliated colleges and 20% in its constituent colleges from the approved quotas.
Out of the scholarship quotas allocated to the university, 60% are Open scholarships (excluding local scholarships and scholarships for children of teachers and staff) and 40% are reserved for students with disabilities, martyrs and people injured in public movements, remote areas, Dalits, Janajatis, and Madhesi communities. In both open and reserved scholarship quotas, 50/50 percent of the scholarship quotas are reserved for women.
The free scholarship quotas allocated to the university are eligible to those candidates who have studied in public schools from at least class 6-10 and passed SEE or SLC, and also have passed the Scholarship Selection Entrance Examination. If quotas remain vacant even after the distribution of the third phase of scholarships (Scholarship Awarded List-III), the free scholarship will be provided based on merit.
However, under the Faculty of Health Sciences, from the academic year 2077/078, a person who wishes to enroll in higher education must pass with a minimum score in the entrance examination conducted by the Nepal Medical Education Commission and they are admitted by the university according to the matching system. The commission has been providing a lump sum grant to the university through the government of Nepal under which 75 % seat will be arranged in bachelor program and 100 % seats in master degree.
