Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City is located in Dang District, Lumbini Province, covering an area of 522.2 square kilometers. It was formed by merging the former areas of Ghorahi, Tripur, Laxmipur, Rampur, Dharna, Saudiyar, and Saigha.
The sub-metropolitan city is divided into 19 wards, with its administrative center situated in Ghorahi itself, serving as a key urban hub in the district.
Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City is one of the 10 municipalities in Dang District of Lumbini Province. As per the 2021 census, the sub-metropolitan city has a total population of 200,530, comprising 93,806 males (46.8%) and 106,724 females (53.2%), with a literacy rate of 83.05%. Spanning 522.21 square kilometers, Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City exhibits the population density of 384 people per square kilometer. Administratively, it is divided into 19 wards.
According to the latest publicly available report of the Center for Education and Human Resource Development (CEHRD), Ghorahi has 174 schools. Of these, 76 are private, 95 are public, and 1 are community. The breakdown includes 137 pre-schools, 167 basic schools, and 75 secondary schools. Among the secondary schools, 29 offer +2 programs.
