Birtamod Municipality is one of the 15 municipalities in Jhapa District of Koshi Province. As per the 2021 census, the municipality has a total population of 116,192, comprising 56,105 males (48.3%) and 60,087 females (51.7%), with a literacy rate of 87.11%. Spanning 78.24 square kilometers, Birtamod Municipality exhibits the population density of 1,485 people per square kilometer. Administratively, it is divided into 10 wards.

According to the latest publicly available report of the Center for Education and Human Resource Development (CEHRD), Birtamod has 93 schools. Of these, 68 are private and 23 are public. The breakdown includes 67 pre-schools, 77 basic schools, and 45 secondary schools. Among the secondary schools, 18 offer +2 programs.
