Shree Bhawani Secondary School is a long-standing community-based public school located in Dhangadhi-9, Gauripur, Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City, in the Far-Western Province of Nepal. Established in 2033 B.S. , the school began as a primary-level institution and has gradually expanded through dedicated community efforts. It now offers education from the basic level up to Grade 12 (higher secondary), serving local students in the region with an emphasis on accessible and inclusive education.
The school operated solely as a primary school until 2050 B.S. In 2051 B.S., with the initiative of social worker Gagan Singh Parki, headmaster Mr. Bishwambhar Jha, and other community members, it received permission to extend to the basic level. Funding was managed entirely through donations collected from residents.
The journey to secondary education faced numerous resource challenges, but under the leadership of headmaster Mr. Nar Bahadur Tamang and teachers such as Hemraj Joshi and Premraj Bhatt, the school management committee successfully proposed and launched secondary-level classes (evening initially) from 2062 B.S., with formal permission granted from 2063 B.S. In 2078 B.S., the school obtained approval to run Classes 11 and 12, further strengthening its role as a higher secondary institution. This growth reflects the strong community spirit, with residents, parents, teachers, and students actively participating in donation drives led by dedicated committees.
As a community school, Shree Bhawani Secondary School relies heavily on local support and donations for its operations, especially to sustain higher secondary programs. It embodies a grassroots model of education where the local community takes ownership to provide learning opportunities despite financial constraints. The school continues to face some resource limitations, particularly for running Classes 11 and 12, highlighting the need for greater stakeholder involvement and support.
The school aims to deliver quality education from foundational years through higher secondary level in a supportive environment shaped by local needs and collective effort. The involvement of experienced teachers and social workers from its early days underscores a commitment to dedicated and resilient educational service.
