APPLICATION CALL FOR FELLOWSHIPS AND GRANTS AWARD
 
University Grants Commission (UGC) invites application from eligible candidates to the Ph.D. fellowship, M.Phil. Fellowship, Mini Research Project and Masters’ Thesis support in the fiscal year 2070/071 under the Quality Enhancement Program. Only the Nepali citizen can apply for the programs. The candidates should fill out the standard application form of the Commission. Incomplete and late applications will not be entertained. The provisions stated in Quality Enhancement Program of UGC will apply to all the awards besides the clauses given below.
 
The candidates fulfilling the following criteria may apply
1. PhD / M.Phil. Fellowship:
  1. The candidate should be of below 50 years of age (52 years for female and under privileged candidates) by the application deadline.
  2. Candidates must submit an appointment letter from the respective institution.
  3. Must be registered for PhD in one of the Universities of Nepal or SAARC countries. Interested candidate may also apply but they have to get registered within a prescribed time.
  4. Registration before September 2012 will not be entertained.
  5. The candidates who avail the grants from UGC are expected to work with the affiliated institutions for five years. They are required to submit the agreement signed with the institution as well as approved leave of absence during the study period.
  6. Only the permanent faculty member in a University/Campus can apply for the PhD fellowship.
  7. Three copies of proposal for PhD fellowship must be submitted.

(The award will be made on the basis of candidate’s academic records, research and scholarly publications, research proposal submitted to UGC and oral presentation)

 
2. Mini Research Grants:
  1. The candidate should be of below 50 years of age (52 years for female and under privileged candidates) by the application deadline.
  2. The candidate must be faculty member in a University/ Campus.
  3. A research proposal must be submitted along with academic certificates, CV and the recommendation letter from the respective institution.
  4. Mini research grants award is mainly targeted to fresh faculty members (Reader or below and without PhD Degree).
3. Masters’ Thesis Support Award/M.Phil Thesis Award:
Master thesis support program is only for physically handicapped students (Category ‘Ka’, ‘Kha’ and ‘Ga’ – MoWCSW).  Candidates who wish to apply under this program must fulfill the following criteria.
  1.  Recommendation letter from the supervisor and through the department.
  2. Approved thesis proposal must be submitted along with academic certificates.
  3. Candidates must submit an official certificate of being physically handicapped.
 
Application fee must be paid to the Financial Administration Division of the Commission or sent through a bank draft payable to the Commission through Rastriya Banijya Bank, Sanothimi Branch. Application fee for PhD is NRs. 500 and for M.Phil and Mini Research NRs. 300. Application along with necessary documents must be submitted to UGC on or before  2070 Poush 30. Delays caused by postal service or other mode of delivery will not be considered. Women, Dalits, Ethnic Minorities and Physically Challenged will be given preferred treatment.
