TU OCE Launches Online Application Process for Transcripts and Document Requests
KMC Lalitpur

The Tribhuvan University Office of the Controller of Examinations (TU OCE) is gearing up for a major digital transformation to elevate its services. Commencing in the third week of January 2024, TU OCE is shifting most of its operations online, promising a streamlined experience and enhanced convenience for students. This transition eliminates the need for physical visits and long waiting times.

A demonstrative session is scheduled for January 14, 2024, where university officials will join to launch and showcase the new online system. Controller of Examinations Pushparaj Joshi emphasized the efficiency of this digital shift, enabling students to submit documents, make payments, and access services like transcript requests from the comfort of their homes.

The move not only simplifies document submission and fee payment but also extends to critical services such as obtaining transcripts and original certificates. This initiative, initially planned two years ago but delayed due to a shortage of skilled IT personnel, is now back on track.

While most services seamlessly transition online, TU OCE is still deliberating on the process for certificate distribution, considering the legal requirements of student presence and photo verification. Joshi mentioned that the executive council would make the final decision regarding the integration of photographs on certificates.

Requested documents will be dispatched through central and regional offices, ensuring a smooth distribution process. TU OCE is expanding its reach with operations already active in various regional offices and a new office set to open in Janakpur, targeting the Madhesh province. With successful implementation, they aim to deliver certificates directly to students' home addresses, coordinating with postal services.

To support this digital transformation, TU OCE has employed six IT staff members and is in the process of recruiting seven more. Acting Vice-Chancellor of TU, Prof. Dr. Shivlal Bhusal, assures that manpower will not be a constraint in transitioning PANIKA's services online.

TU OCE's move towards an online system is a significant leap in modernizing educational administration in Nepal, reducing physical barriers, and enhancing accessibility. This transition reflects the growing digitalization trend in education and underscores TU OCE's commitment to improving service delivery and student satisfaction.
