Tribhuvan University (TU) has announced that the entrance examination for the MPhil-PhD program in Linguistics under the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences will not be conducted for the academic year 2025 (2082/83 BS).
Issuing an urgent notice on Friday, the Dean’s Office at Kirtipur stated that only one application was received for the Linguistics program despite the publication of an online application notice for enrollment in various MPhil-PhD programs conducted under the semester system.
According to the university regulations, at least five students are required to operate teaching and learning activities in a subject. Citing the insufficient number of applicants, the university decided not to conduct the entrance examination for the Linguistics subject.
