Texas Int'l College Conducts Webinar on COVID-19 and its Impact with Gagan Thapa

Wednesday, 15 April 2020 - Texas College of Management and IT conducted 2 hours live webinar for 125 participants in an intensive and highly interactive format targeting its MBA students. 

The webinar was about ‘COVID-19 and its impact on socio-economic arena’ which was addressed by Gagan Thapa, who is the former health minister and member of the constituent assembly of Nepal. It was conducted to understand about COVID-19 crisis and its aftermath effect which will lead to a different economy. The webinar was started with recent updates and a special address by Mr. Thapa followed by discussions on raised questions by participants. 

Mr. Thapa highlighted gray areas of a pandemic like its dire impact on tourism, hospitality, manufacturing, and other industries & organizations which might lead towards loss of revenue generation and create unemployment. He also stressed futuristic trends of switching towards a digital economy which is the demand of today and tomorrow.

He shared about transforming academia into the virtual education system and implementing online assessment pedagogies at various levels of education. He urges youngsters not to be shut down mentally but to unlock new business models that could create sustainability and cover the scars that pandemic will leave in society and the economy as a whole. 

As his closing remarks, he suggested showing the resilience during this unprecedented testing period as a pandemic is pushing the world’s economic systems to change and alter at a pace never seen before so one needs to act decisively, innovatively and take a wiser step at individual and community level.
