The technical education was introduced in Nepal by the Ministry of Education in 2012 as a pilot project for students from 99 public schools across the country. The government has decided to adopt the grading system in SLC results for technical category from this year. The system will be gradually implemented for the general category as well in upcoming years.
Some 4,500 students are taking exams in five categories of vocational and technical education--agriculture, engineering, hotel and hospitality management, computer science and livestock farming.
